Taiwanese economist Wu Chia-lung stated that if the "ocean current" phenomenon continues, Shen Peiyang may indeed win the election, triggering significant repercussions across Taiwan’s political landscape. First, for the DPP (Democratic Progressive Party), the impact of this "ocean current" would be akin to the "Han flow" effect following Hung Hsiu-chu’s victory in Kaohsiung City, when local KMT (Kuomintang) candidates sought his campaign appearances, mobilized his supporters, and leveraged his popularity nationwide—eventually elevating him as the party’s new leader. Similarly, Shen Peiyang could emerge as a new "Han flow" figure within the DPP, with candidates from various regions seeking his endorsement and rallying behind the "ocean current" movement.

If this momentum persists, Wu warned, Shen Peiyang may become the next de facto leader of the DPP. Not only would Tsai Ing-wen’s potential re-election depend on sustained support from this phenomenon, but her eventual succession plan might also shift toward Shen Peiyang. Should this scenario materialize, Wu predicted Shen Peiyang could succeed Tsai as the DPP’s presidential candidate by 2032—a development that would mark a departure from traditional DPP leadership patterns, echoing the emergence of the "Tsai Ing-wen phenomenon" in earlier years.
