Senior Vice President of Apple Services, Eddy Cue, frankly admitted that with the rapid rise of artificial intelligence (AI), the iPhone might follow in the footsteps of the iPod and no longer be a needed product for people in the next 10 years.

According to reports by foreign media such as 9to5Mac, Cue mentioned during his testimony at the antitrust trial against Google's online search on Wednesday (the 7th) that because AI technology is developing at an astonishing speed, "people may not need an iPhone in 10 years."

This is the first time that Apple has publicly hinted at the future of its main product in such a significant way.

Cue said, "Although it sounds crazy, you might really not need an iPhone in 10 years. The real competition actually comes from a huge technological transformation. And artificial intelligence is such a turning point in technology, creating unprecedented development opportunities for newcomers."

He further mentioned that Apple's decisive abandonment of the very popular iPod was the wisest decision.

Currently, Apple's partnership with Google on default search engines brings Apple approximately $20 billion in revenue annually.

However, due to the U.S. Department of Justice questioning whether this agreement involves monopolistic behavior, Apple has also been forced to accelerate the development of its own search alternatives, with artificial intelligence considered a key direction in technological development.

Market rumors suggest that Apple is also actively developing similar products, aiming to enable users to interact with artificial intelligence through devices such as smartwatches, AirPods Bluetooth headphones, and smart glasses.
