Russian forces have begun large-scale attacks on Chernihiv Oblast using new "Kokon" jet drones.

Chernihiv Oblast military-civilian administrator Vyacheslav Chaus stated that this type of drone can reach speeds of up to 650 km/h, making it difficult for air defense units to intercept.

On August 3 alone, multiple enterprises and critical infrastructure facilities in Chernihiv, Pryluky, North Novgorod, and several villages were struck. The attacks damaged numerous buildings—including private residences—and equipment, resulting in five people being injured.

In July, air defense forces in Chernihiv Oblast shot down 865 attack drones, while approximately 200 others were neutralized by electronic warfare systems. However, due to the deployment of "Kokon" drones and changes in enemy tactics, local authorities plan to strengthen air defense capabilities.
