The Deputy Commander of the Russian Army was attacked, and a Chinese pickup truck withstood two explosions, saving his life.
Recently, the Ukrainian side publicly released the entire process of using a suicide drone to pursue Abachev on August 18th local time. The footage shows that they first used a suicide drone to target Abachev's vehicle from behind for an attack.
After the first drone exploded, it forced the vehicle to stop. The second drone quickly followed up, found personnel inside the vehicle through infrared signals, and then continued to follow up, even checking the license plate before launching another attack. After two attacks, the third drone followed up, checked the damage, and found that the front part of the vehicle was seriously damaged, and the roof had been blown off by the explosion's blast wave.
The pickup truck that endured two attacks did not disintegrate, and its overall structure remained intact. It is likely because of this that Abachev managed to survive. If the car had been severely damaged after being exploded, Abachev might have died on the spot.
So what kind of car is this? Through the lens of the Ukrainian military drone, it was found that the car has a trademark of a Chinese automaker, Great Wall Cannon, but its appearance differs significantly from the models sold in China.
Upon investigation, this is a 2023 model "Great Wall Jin Gang Pao" vehicle manufactured in Russia. This car is also sold in China, although it has undergone a revised upgrade. Its positioning is a low-end version of the Great Wall Cannon model, priced around 100,000 yuan. However, the new price of this car in Russia is 2.899 million to 3.099 million rubles (approximately 258,000 to 276,000 yuan in RMB).
It is unknown whether this Chinese brand pickup truck that saved Abachev will become evidence of "China funding Russia" as claimed by Ukraine. However, although the name of the car contains the word "Pao," it is entirely a civilian vehicle, and it is also produced in the Great Wall Automobile factory in Tula, Russia. If Ukraine wants to link China, their plan may fall apart.
