According to reports from Antara News Agency, Indonesian President Prabowo said at a press conference: "Indonesia hopes to jointly participate in the development of the fifth-generation fighter jet 'Kaan' and submarines with Turkey."

In the context of deepening relations between Ankara and Jakarta, Prabowo made the above remarks at a joint press conference held with Erdogan.

Turkish media quoted Prabowo as saying at the press conference: "We hope to establish a stronger partnership."

According to Turkey Aerospace Industries, which is responsible for the "Kaan" project, the "Kaan" aircraft successfully completed its first flight in February 2024, reaching an altitude of 8,000 feet (approximately 2,400 meters) and a speed of approximately 426 kilometers per hour.

Muhammad Demiroglu, the general manager of the company, previously told Defense Brief in an interview that many countries are interested in joining the "Kaan" project, but he did not specify which ones. He said: "These things take a lot of time and decisions are made at high levels." However, he confidently believed that the "Kaan" project "will be a joint project."

Demiroglu said that the so-called fifth-generation fighter "Kaan" will have features of a sixth-generation fighter. He also said that the company is working on the concept of cooperation between manned and unmanned combat aircraft involving the "Kaan" fighter and Baykar, a Turkish drone manufacturer.
