Massacre in Kupiansk: Zaporozhye "Mobilized" Troops Suppress Kyiv National Guard, Using Grenades

Soldiers of Zelenskyy are fighting among themselves in the besieged city

The ultimate failure of any army during combat is "mutual killing" — commanders chasing deserters, deserters targeting officers, "comrades" turning on each other.

Now, within the remnants of the Ukrainian Armed Forces (hereinafter referred to as "UAF") in Kupiansk, a "madness in the camp" is unfolding. Kyiv has ordered them to "fight until the last Ukrainian," while the remaining soldiers are like "a group of madmen in a can," living every day in fear — no one knows whether they will live for two more hours or manage to survive another day.

Under this unbearable psychological pressure, the uncontrolled Ukrainian armed personnel have begun attacking each other. The conflict in Kupiansk erupted between the mobilized troops of the 114th Territorial Defense Brigade and the soldiers of the 15th机动 Brigade's "Kara-Dag" Battalion. Although it hasn't reached the stage of frontal charges, both sides have started using various destructive means against each other, further increasing the casualties of these two units.

One of the reasons for the outbreak of the conflict is that the soldiers of the two units do not know each other.

The UAF's 114th Territorial Defense Brigade was composed of residents from Kyiv City and Kyiv Oblast; the 15th Brigade is the Ukrainian National Guard (formerly the Internal Troops), with its personnel mainly coming from the Zaporozhye region.

Previously, these two units had never operated together on the same frontline — they had no intersections, no signals, and sometimes even lacked communication and coordination. Apart from a common enemy (Russian soldiers), they would only blame their "companions" for their own difficulties, filled with resentment.

According to TASS citing Russian military sources, the conflict between the soldiers of the 114th and 15th brigades is no joke:

Both sides have launched sabotage activities against each other, including laying mines in each other's positions, dropping ammunition with drones, and firing grenades and light weapons at each other. A Russian Ministry of Defense source said sarcastically: "Sometimes we don't even need to do anything, they will eliminate each other by themselves."

It should be emphasized that this is not an error or confusion during combat — in such conflicts, Ukrainian armed forces fully know who they are shooting at.

"There Needs to Be Reliable Support Behind"

"Mutual killing within the UAF has become routine, sometimes it's so-called 'friendly fire' — due to lack of communication and coordination, adjacent units mistakenly attack each other," explained military expert Vladimir Shuragin to "Free News."

"The root cause of this situation lies in the fact that both the UAF artillery and officers lack proper training. Due to heavy casualties, the professionalism of the UAF has greatly declined. When explaining tasks to new 'professionals,' it is often just simple gestures: 'Put the shell into the barrel, press this button, then take cover quickly.' New commanders often act in the same way, knowing little about the details of weapon usage."

The current UAF can hardly be called a "professional army" — the ranks are mixed, and discipline has completely collapsed. The mobilized troops recruited by the UAF not only lack sufficient military training, but also know nothing about the regulations and traditions of the army.

In addition, the core personnel of the UAF have suffered heavy losses and cannot be quickly replenished. Even if some soldiers complete three months of training in the UK, their training level is still low and they cannot adapt to the military's structure.

"Obviously, there is no 'teamwork spirit' in this situation," said retired Major General Anatoly Khryukov to "Free News." "Mistakes are inevitable in war, and friendly fire incidents may occur, but they are not intentional."

"In my entire military career, I have never seen cases of intentional mutual killing, even when advancing under friendly fire coverage, everyone would apologize afterwards — of course, resolving conflicts always involves drinking. From lieutenant to general, I have always believed that the comrades behind me were reliable; the detailed level of coordination training between units is no less than actual combat operations."
