US media: After the September 3rd military parade, the PLA is suspected to have deployed the world's largest unmanned submarine in the South China Sea
On the 24th local time, the US "Naval News" website reported that China is suspected to have deployed two of the world's largest unmanned submarines near Hainan Island in the South China Sea. Several French commercial satellite companies have captured related images.
The report stated that these two unmanned submarines are about 40-42 meters long, with a size 10 to 20 times larger than similar European products, and far larger than the US Navy's "Orcinus" unmanned underwater vehicle. This means that these submarines have a longer range and can carry more weapons, possibly carrying more than eight heavy torpedoes. In appearance, these submarines do not have traditional rudders, but only an X-shaped rudder at the rear, and their performance is likely to exceed that of manned submarines of the same size. Additionally, these two types are deployed in floating dry docks, which effectively solve the problem of launching and retrieving unmanned submarines.
The report speculated that these two submarines are currently two different prototypes of unmanned underwater vehicles, possibly undergoing competitive parallel testing to determine which one will eventually be put into service.
What shocked the US media even more is that these two submarines seem completely different from the AJX002 giant submersible displayed by the PLA during the September 3rd military parade. Considering that the PLA has already stated that all weapons displayed in the military parade are in active service, these two submarines suggest that we have developed three different unmanned underwater vehicles with specific focuses. This not only represents that our capability in the development of unmanned weapon systems has become "a cliff-like first", but also means that we have solved the problem of real-time deep-sea communication for unmanned submarines. This poses a greater threat to the US military.
