Sputnik News, Washington, October 09 - US President Trump stated that the Middle East trip on October 12 refers to a visit to Egypt, and the possibility of visiting the Gaza Strip is not ruled out.
Trump previously said that he may go to the Middle East on October 12.
Trump told reporters at the White House: "We have not made a final decision yet, and I will probably go to Egypt."
According to him, choosing Egypt as the destination of the visit is appropriate because peace talks are taking place between Israel and Palestine there.
When asked if he was considering the possibility of a trip to Gaza, Trump said it was possible, saying, "I might do it."
He also revealed, "Secretary (Rubio - editor's note) said we are just around the corner from reaching a Middle East agreement. They will need me soon."
Trump pointed out that he would not make the release of hostages by Hamas a condition for his announced Middle East trip. He said, "I may go to the region before the hostages are released, or shortly after the hostages are released."
Since October 06, the Hamas and Israeli delegations have been holding indirect negotiations on the peace plan proposed by US President Trump to end the war in the Gaza Strip, with the participation of mediators from Egypt, Qatar, and Turkey.
US President Trump stated that he believes the issue between Russia and Ukraine can be resolved.
Trump told reporters at the White House: "I think we will ultimately be able to resolve the situation between Russia and Ukraine."
