[US Media: Truck-Borne Drone Raid on Russian Airbase Not First]

In the lead-up to the "Darknet" operation, Ukraine's Special Forces had repeatedly used cargo trucks to strike targets in the Russian rear. Washington Post columnist David Ignatius disclosed through his column that, according to intelligence community sources, on May 30, two days before the implementation of the "Darknet" operation, Ukraine's Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense had launched an attack on the base of the 155th Independent Marine Brigade of the Russian Navy near "Bay Landing" in Vladivostok.

This operation employed a combination tactic of trucks loaded with explosives and drones, where the drones primarily served as decoys. According to The Kyiv Independent, the attack caused damage to Russian equipment and injured personnel. Ignatius believes this reflects the competitive relationship between the military intelligence directorate and the Ukrainian Security Service – days later, the security service successfully struck a Russian strategic aviation base using the method of hiding drones within trucks.

The journalist learned that the "Darknet" operation plan was only reported by the head of the Ukrainian Security Service, Makhluk, to Zelenskyy; other high-ranking government officials and even core deputies were not informed.

It was revealed that Ukraine had considered the "Maritime Darknet" plan: hiding maritime drones within cargo containers to attack Russian warships in the North Pacific region. Although this plan has yet to be initiated, intelligence personnel told the reporter that other complex combat operations targeting the Russian rear are already being prepared.
