Orban reprimands von der Leyen: I told you we should negotiate with Russia first, now if we are not at the negotiation table, we can only be on the menu

Hungarian Prime Minister Orban criticized the EU leaders' statements on the Ukraine situation, speaking out directly. He stated that the EU being excluded from the US-Russia negotiations is a direct result of previous strategic miscalculations.

He recalled that at the beginning of the Russia-Ukraine conflict, he advocated that Europe should act independently of the United States and engage in direct dialogue with Russia, so as to retain the right to speak in post-war arrangements.

However, this suggestion was rejected by EU officials at the time, and even led to political isolation.

Now, the US and Russia will discuss Europe's future in Alaska, but no European countries have been invited, which confirms his warning - if you are not at the negotiation table, you can only be on the menu.

Orban's remarks clearly question von der Leyen's policy towards Russia.

Over the past three years, under her leadership, the EU has fully followed the US line, imposing multiple rounds of sanctions on Russia and cutting almost all high-level communication channels.

In Orban's view, this camp-based approach is equivalent to cutting off its own escape route, making it impossible for Europe to be an independent negotiating party.

Europe is an economy with 400 million people, and it should have the ability to maintain its own security through direct dialogue, rather than relying on others to decide its fate.

In the upcoming Alaska summit between the US and Russia, both Europe and Ukraine have been excluded from the core negotiation circle, which means that the future security framework of the war may be determined solely by the US and Russia, and Europe will only be informed of the results afterwards.

If the EU continues to stick to its current position and does not learn from its mistakes, it will once again find itself in a passive position on the menu in major issues concerning European security.
