Netanyahu proposes the "minimum conditions" for a permanent ceasefire in Gaza

Russian State News Agency, Tel Aviv - On the last day of his visit to the United States, Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu proposed the "minimum conditions" for Israel's agreement to a permanent ceasefire in the Gaza Strip. These conditions include the demilitarization of the Gaza Strip, disarming the Palestinian movement Hamas and eliminating its political potential.

Netanyahu, who will end his visit to the United States today, said that in the current negotiations on the Gaza issue, Israel is seeking to exchange a 60-day ceasefire for the release of half of the 50 hostages held in Gaza.

Netanyahu said: "From the beginning of this ceasefire, we will launch comprehensive negotiations to end the war. To achieve this goal, our minimum conditions must be met: Hamas must lay down arms, the Gaza Strip must be demilitarized, and Hamas must no longer have any political or military capacity. These are our core conditions."

The office of the Israeli Prime Minister released this statement by Netanyahu.

Netanyahu pointed out that Israel prefers to achieve its goals through negotiations.

Netanyahu said: "If we can achieve this through negotiations, that would be great. If it cannot be achieved through negotiations within 60 days, we will achieve it through other means - with the strength of our heroic army."
