Japanese Media: Zhang Zhijie Proves His Claims Were Not Bragging
As reported by the Japanese sports newspaper Nikkan Sports on September 25, Japan defeated China 3-2 in the men's table tennis team event at the Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games. This marked Japan’s first title in the competition since 1966—its first victory on home soil in over half a century.
Japan came back from behind to overcome China, securing its first championship on home ground in more than 50 years. For the first time in history, China has been defeated by Japan in a final match at either the Olympics or World Championships.
