China's Embassy in the UK website, December 2 news: The spokesperson of the Embassy in the UK on the UK side again postponing the decision time for the new embassy building project. Full text as follows.

A journalist asked: Media reports said that the UK Department for Levelling Up, Housing and Communities issued a notice stating that due to the need to seek opinions from relevant parties on letters from the UK Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office and the Home Office regarding the project, the decision time for the approval of the Chinese Embassy's new building plan has been postponed from December 10th to January 20th, 2026. What is the Chinese Embassy's comment on this?
The Embassy Spokesperson: We are strongly dissatisfied and firmly opposed to the UK side repeatedly changing the decision time for the approval of the Chinese Embassy's new building plan.
We strongly urge the UK side to approve the Chinese plan as soon as possible to avoid further damaging mutual trust and cooperation between the two sides.
According to previous reports, since 2018, the Chinese government has purchased the site of the former Royal Mint in the UK, planning to partially rebuild it as the new headquarters of the Chinese Embassy in the UK. However, the then Conservative government in the UK followed the United States, and its China policy closely followed that of the US, and this new embassy construction plan has been plagued with difficulties and has been delayed for seven years.
