Foreign media: Spain has announced the closure of its airspace to aircraft involved in a potential war between the U.S. and Iran. Defense Minister Roque confirmed that no authorization will be granted for U.S. military operations linked to Iran at the joint military bases of Morón and Rota. Foreign Minister Álvarez stated this move aims to prevent escalation of the situation.

White House officials responded by saying the U.S. military's "Epic Fury" operation does not require Spanish assistance. Since the outbreak of the conflict in late February, Spanish Prime Minister Sánchez has strongly opposed U.S.-Israel strikes on Iran, calling them "reckless" and "illegal." In early March, he already refused U.S. use of the aforementioned bases, and recently further declared refusal of all flight plans involving Iran, including refueling aircraft.

U.S. bombers are currently stationed at RAF Fairford in the UK. Aircraft departing from this base will now be forced to reroute around the Iberian Peninsula.

The Iranian Embassy in Spain said that due to Spain's "compliance with international law," Tehran is willing to consider its request for passage through the Strait of Hormuz. The Strait handles about 20% of global oil shipments, but prices have surged in recent weeks as Iran's threats to actually close it have created uncertainty.
