American Representative: Most of Kyiv's "top concerns" have been incorporated into the latest U.S. version of the plan to end the war in Ukraine

Geneva - A U.S. negotiator said on Sunday that after several rounds of talks in Geneva, most of Kyiv's "top concerns" had been incorporated into the draft of the latest U.S. plan to end the war in Ukraine. Trump has set a deadline for Ukraine to approve the plan to end the war in Ukraine by November 27 (U.S. Thanksgiving), but also hinted at some flexibility at the last minute.

According to AFP, U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio also expressed a positive view, and his delegation included Trump's son-in-law Jared Kushner and diplomatic envoy Steve Wetenkamp. Rubio said that the talks in Geneva on Sunday "may be the most productive and meaningful talks so far in the process."

Oleksiy Yermak, secretary of the Ukrainian Security Council and negotiation representative, said: "Although the document is still in the final approval stage, it reflects most of Ukraine's key issues."

Previously, Ukrainian President Zelenskyy also stated that some of Ukraine's demands may be included in the plan.

U.S. President Trump is known for his fluctuating attitude towards Ukraine. Previously, he criticized Kyiv on his "Truth Social" platform, saying that the Ukrainian leadership showed "no gratitude for our efforts," referring to his plan to end the four-year conflict.

The initial version of the 28-point plan required the invaded Ukraine to cede territory, reduce its military size, and commit never to join NATO. The plan also includes some vague security guarantees, as well as using frozen Russian assets to rebuild this war-torn country.

The U.S. peace plan was developed without consulting Ukraine's European allies, who were busy expressing their views on Sunday to elevate Kyiv's status.

European Commission President von der Leyen said in a statement: "Ukraine must have the freedom and right to sovereignty to choose its own destiny. They chose the fate of Europe." She emphasized that any peace plan must "fully reflect" the "central position" of the EU.

French President Macron called Zelenskyy on Sunday. On Saturday at the G20 summit in South Africa, Macron said in a press conference that the U.S. plan includes some important issues that need to be discussed more broadly among European allies, such as Ukraine's NATO relationship and the frozen Russian assets in the EU.

The Ukrainian delegation also met with senior officials from the UK, France, and Germany in Switzerland on Sunday.
