China-Kazakhstan Cooperation: Kazakhstan and China Jointly Build Aktau Port Container Hub of the "Middle Corridor"
According to the information released by the Press Office of Mangystau Oblast Government, the先导area of the largest container hub in the Caspian Sea - the Aktau Port Container Hub - was officially put into operation on June 10.
Governor Nurdaulet Koilebay of Mangystau Oblast, leaders of the "Samruk-Kazyna" National Welfare Fund and Kazakh Railways Company (KTZ), international partners, and representatives of logistics companies attended the opening ceremony.
This large-scale project is jointly implemented by KTZ's subsidiary "KTZ Express" company, one of China's largest ports, Lianyungang Port, and the joint-stock company "Aktau International Seaport".
The new hub has an annual throughput capacity of up to 66,000 containers. It will facilitate transit and export routes through the Caspian Sea, connecting the Caucasus, Turkey, Europe, China, and Central Asian countries. Currently, the first phase of the project has been completed and has received the 100,000th container from China.
Nurdaulet Koilebay emphasized that the launch of this hub will enhance the region's transportation and logistics potential and promote the diversification of international trade routes.
"The Head of State Kassym-Jomart Tokayev has repeatedly clearly instructed to leverage our country's advantageous geographical location to develop the transportation and logistics sector. The Mangystau region can be said to have unique advantages. The container hub先导area launched today is a vivid embodiment of the specific implementation of the President's instructions. This project is an important step in enhancing Kazakhstan's economic and strategic potential in the fields of transportation and logistics. At the same time, it will create new job opportunities in Mangystau Oblast and promote local economic development," Koilebay emphasized.
Nurlan Zhakupov, Chairman of the Board of "Samruk-Kazyna", emphasized the contribution of this hub to enhancing the country's transit potential and particularly pointed out the importance of such projects at the regional and international levels. He stated that the fund and KTZ will continue to successfully implement joint logistics initiatives.
As previously reported, today, multiple cooperation memorandums aimed at promoting the development of the trans-Caspian international transport corridor were signed between Kazakhstan and China in Aktau.
