A Ukrainian woman filmed a video showing that she had destroyed all the Russian books at home, including "Crime and Punishment" by Dostoevsky. The woman meant to completely sever ties with Russia; however, interestingly, she spoke Russian while filming the video.

Ukrainian and Russian are both part of the Slavic language family, influenced by Polish and Turkic language families, and only formed a standardized language system in the 19th century. They share many words, but Russian has absorbed more modern vocabulary, while Ukrainian retains more ancient words and expressions. When the Russia-Ukraine war broke out, many high-ranking Ukrainian officials could not speak Ukrainian and still spoke Russian in public settings.
