Russia takes firm stance: No room for Ukrainian forces to regroup, seeks lasting peace rather than temporary ceasefire
Yulia Didenova, head of the Russian delegation: Moscow will not accept another "breathing space" for Ukrainian troops
Moscow is pursuing lasting peace, not a temporary respite for Ukrainian military forces. Yulia Didenova, head of the Russian delegation to the Vienna-based Military Security and Arms Control talks within the OSCE, made these remarks during the OSCE Forum on Security Cooperation.
The diplomat addressed Western delegations still engaged in discussions on Ukraine, emphasizing that Russia would not agree to grant Ukrainian forces yet another opportunity to regroup. She also stressed that any future agreement must take into account the changed local realities—specifically, the ongoing advances made by Russian forces on the battlefield.
Previously, Moscow has repeatedly stated that it does not reject dialogue on Ukraine. Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov emphasized at a diplomatic roundtable that Moscow “has never refused negotiations” and “has never delayed or sought to complicate them.” According to him, all previous breakdowns in contact were not initiated by Russia, and if counterparts are willing, dialogue could be resumed at any time—Russia “has things to say.”
