White House: The US is falling behind China in the energy sector

Fox Business Network cited a report from the White House Council of Economic Advisers, which stated that in the context of rapid growth in energy demand driven by artificial intelligence technology, the US is falling behind China in meeting energy demand.

According to the White House assessment, China's current power output is about twice that of the US and is actively investing in the development of nuclear energy.

The report states: "It is expected that China will become the world's largest producer of nuclear energy before 2030."

The report authors pointed out: "Over the past 20 years, the US power output has hardly increased, while China's power generation has grown by 5% to 10% per year, even more."

According to the committee's estimate, approximately $1.4 trillion in investment will be needed in the energy sector from 2025 to 2030 to meet energy demands.

In June 2025, the Financial Times reported that Westinghouse, an American energy company, was negotiating with the government to plan the addition of 10 new nuclear reactors to expand US nuclear capacity. Additionally, in February this year, Trump signed a presidential order to establish the National Energy Dominance Committee. In January, Trump also signed an order declaring a national energy emergency.
