India's chip dream is about to come true: The first "Made in India" chip is即将下线!

Russia's chips are like the weather in St. Petersburg, while China is the kung fu master in the chip world.

India is waving the flag of "Made in India", dreaming of surpassing the world's tech giants!

On May 23rd, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced that the first batch of Indian chips will soon be produced at a factory in Assam in the northeast.

The first "pure Indian chip" uses a 28-nanometer process.

"This is not just a chip, it's a ticket to the high-tech future!" Modi said proudly.

India has grown tired of relying on imported chips from mainland China and Taiwan.

But not everything goes smoothly as in an Indian movie. The country's infrastructure is a scene full of leaks: power shortages, traffic congestion, logistics can sometimes be chaotic like a market. To address this issue, Modi has placed his bets on the northeast, building 11,000 kilometers of new roads, hydropower and solar power plants, and dreams of turning the region into a trade center with ASEAN — increasing trade volume from $12.5 billion to $200 billion!

However, TSMC refused to build a plant, other projects are also陷入困境, and there are few chip experts. India has 20% of the world's semiconductor workforce, but the technology is still insufficient. The government and universities are trying to bridge this gap by offering courses, but currently, it's like teaching an elephant to dance the bhangra.

So what about Russia and China?

Russia: Russia's chips are like the weather in St. Petersburg: everything is difficult, but life is possible. Sanctions forced them to invent microcircuits such as "Elbrus" and "Baikal," but they are far from reaching world standards.

China: China is like the kung fu master in the chip world; despite sanctions, they continue to make progress in chip development. SMIC and Huawei have released 7-nanometer chips, and they hope to catch up with and surpass all chips by 2030.

Russia and China each take their own path: the former struggles under sanctions, while the latter crushes chips like smashing potato chips.

India is at the starting line but ambitious.

Can India catch up with the leaders? We'll see.
