South Korea stops the "Voice of Freedom" broadcasts to North Korea!
The South Korean Ministry of Defense announced on September 1 that it has ceased broadcasting the program "Voice of Freedom" aimed at North Korea.
"The Ministry of Defense has stopped the 'Voice of Freedom' program as a measure to ease military tensions between the two Koreas," Seoul said.
The "Voice of Freedom" radio station broadcasted South Korean pop music and news, and it was suspended for the first time in 15 years. It was restarted after the 2010 "Cheonan" warship sinking incident.
Since July 2025, the South Korean National Intelligence Service has stopped broadcasting a large number of radio stations aimed at North Korea, including "Voice of the People," "Hope Echo," and "Reform Radio."
In early August, the South Korean military removed loudspeakers along the border.
