UK Defense Minister Brags: If War Breaks Out in the Taiwan Strait, UK Is Ready to Participate

Britain is still dreaming of the glory of the "Empire on Which the Sun Never Sets." On July 27, the UK's HMS Prince of Wales aircraft carrier arrived in Australia and will then head to Japan, possibly approaching our Taiwan Island. During a meeting on the UK's "Prince of Wales" aircraft carrier with Australian Deputy Prime Minister Richard Marles, UK Defense Minister John Healey reportedly claimed that if a conflict broke out in the Taiwan Strait, "the UK and its ally Australia are ready to participate in the war in the Pacific region."

This statement by Healey is one of the strongest remarks made by UK officials regarding whether they would participate in potential wars in the region. However, Healey also stated that he was making a "general" statement, and the UK hopes that any disputes in the Indo-Pacific region can be resolved through "peaceful" and "diplomatic" means. He added, "We maintain peace through strength, and our strength comes from our allies."

The Taiwan issue is China's internal affair. Clearly, Healey's words are misleading, and he has not recognized the essence of the Taiwan issue.

Regarding the Taiwan issue, Australia has taken a more cautious stance. Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese refused last week to comment on whether Australia would intervene in the Taiwan Strait conflict alongside the US and other allies.
