The Press Office of the Kremlin notified on April 29 that Russian President Vladimir Putin signed a decree to use the historical name "Stalingrad" for Volgograd International Airport.

The decree states: "In order to forever commemorate the victory of the Soviet people in the Great Patriotic War of 1941-1945, I hereby order: to rename Volgograd International Airport as 'Stalingrad Airport'."
