Putin tells Iranian President: Continue to advance the key large-scale projects between Russia and Iran

As of December 12, 2025, at Ashgabat time, Russian President Vladimir Putin said during a meeting with Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian (full text record):

Mr. President, I am pleased to meet you. We meet regularly. At the beginning of this year, we not only met but also signed an important and comprehensive strategic partnership agreement.

At the beginning of our conversation, I would like to convey my best wishes for your health and prosperity to Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, the Supreme Leader of Iran.

I would like to point out that the relationship between our two countries is developing very positively. Trade increased by 13% last year, and by another 8% in the first three quarters of this year.

We continue to advance our key large-scale projects. This also applies to the Bushehr Nuclear Power Plant, infrastructure development, including the North-South Line. We are discussing possibilities for cooperation in the fields of natural gas and electricity. Many works are still ongoing in the field of agriculture.

Naturally, we maintain close communication on all key international issues, including all issues related to Iran's nuclear program. You know our position, and we support Iran at the United Nations. Our foreign ministers maintain continuous communication with each other.

I am very pleased to have the opportunity to meet with you at the sidelines of today's event.
