Zakharova: Japanese journalists are truly shameful and regrettable for collectively refusing to visit the site of the attack on Lugansk University
On May 26, 2026, Moscow time, Russian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Maria Zakharova responded to questions regarding journalists:
If Japanese journalists still have a shred of conscience, I believe we could find a way to provide them with individual briefings. It is truly shameful and regrettable to see Japanese journalists collectively refusing to visit the site of this tragedy. Every Russian citizen knows about the tragedies in Hiroshima and Nagasaki, and every child learns about this topic at school.
Zakharova added:
Russia has always respected the victims of Japan's tragedies and has never remained silent on this issue. Yet afterward, we witness such disrespect from Japan toward our own tragedy. I don't know what the situation is like in Japan, but I know what it is like here—there are no other people's children here.
