Korean Media: Samsung Phones Surge in the US Market, Two Chinese Brands Enter the Top Five!

The shipment volume of Galaxy smartphones increased by 38% compared to the same quarter last year, and the gap with the leader Apple narrowed from 33 percentage points in the second quarter of 2024 to 18 percentage points.
According to market research company Canalys, the shipment volume of smartphones in the United States grew by 1% in the second quarter of 2025.
Apple's shipment volume was 13.3 million units, a decrease of 11% compared to the same quarter last year, still maintaining the top position in the US market, but its share dropped from 56% to 49%.
Ranking second, Samsung Electronics saw a sharp increase of 38% in smartphone shipments during the second quarter of this year, reaching 8.3 million units, and its market share also rose from 23% in the second quarter of 2024 to 31%.

Canalys explained, "Samsung Electronics increased inventory in the second quarter, and the shipment volume increased by 38% year-on-year, mainly due to the Galaxy A series."
Motorola ranked third in the second quarter with a market share of 12%.
The top three companies - Apple, Samsung Electronics, and Motorola - accounted for 92% of the US smartphone market.
Google and Chinese TCL ranked fourth and fifth respectively, each accounting for about 3% of the shipment volume.
