Foreign media: Brazil and China have signed a memorandum of understanding to jointly study the feasibility of a South American continental railway project connecting Brazil's Atlantic coast with the Chancay port on Peru's Pacific coast.
The railway will be approximately 4,500 kilometers long, starting from Ileus in Bahia state, Brazil, crossing the Andes Mountains through Acre state in the north to the Peruvian coast. The project is expected to cost over $70 billion, and once completed, it could reduce the time for goods to reach Asia by up to 12 days.
Currently, only technical, environmental, and economic studies are being conducted, which are expected to last five years.
