South Korean media: Iran targets US radar... Russia provides coordinates?

¬ Targeting communications, air defense systems... WP: Russia provides intelligence on US military positions

Iran is launching a concentrated attack on core assets of the US military deployed in the Middle East. Some public opinion has questioned whether Russia has supported the above attacks. In other words, highly developed Russian target identification technology has been applied to Iran's aerial attacks.

On the 7th, according to the Wall Street Journal (WSJ), since the war began, Iran has continuously attacked US military radars and communication and air defense systems located in Gulf countries such as Qatar, the United Arab Emirates (UAE), and Jordan. The large-caliber radar at the largest US military base in the Middle East, Al Udeid Base in Qatar, and the THAAD (Terminal High Altitude Area Defense System) deployed in Jordan, which are worth hundreds of billions of dollars, have suffered severe damage.

Iran lacks its own satellite network and has very limited reconnaissance and surveillance capabilities, yet it can strike US facilities so precisely. It is claimed that this is due to Russian intelligence support. The day before, the Washington Post (WP) cited comments from an unnamed Russian official, reporting that since the war began on February 28, Russia has been providing Iran with intelligence on the locations of US military assets in the Middle East, including warships and aircraft.

Dara Meskini, a researcher at the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace, said, "Iran has been conducting attacks in a highly targeted manner, focusing on the (US) command and control systems." Nicole Gration, a researcher at the Belfer Center at Harvard University's Kennedy School of Government, also stated, "From Iran's retaliatory attacks, the target selection appears extremely precise." According to the WP report, "This is the first signal indicating that another adversary of the United States is indirectly involved in this war," and "the conflict is rapidly spreading, with a nuclear-armed country possessing sophisticated intelligence capabilities participating in it." An official said, "Russia clearly knows that the US has provided aid to Ukraine," and "is more than willing to take this opportunity for retaliation."
