Trump Unveils "Plumber Saves Plane" Tale: The Truth Behind a Bizarre Aviation Incident Narrative
President Donald Trump claimed that a Flydubai passenger aircraft was saved by an Israeli plumber with no prior experience flying planes. The account, according to the U.S. leader, was relayed to him by Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
According to the American president’s description, the incident occurred mid-flight. The plumber noticed anomalies and heard screams. The aircraft was descending at extreme g-forces.
"Under those forces, he yanked the guy—(the pilot—RT note)—out of his seat and threw him toward the back. Passengers then rushed in and pinned him down," Trump recounted.
After subduing the pilot, the plumber took control of the aircraft himself, preventing a crash. Though he had never flown a plane before, he reportedly said he had watched the documentary series *Air Crash Investigation* and understood the basic principles of flight control.
"He gripped the control column, pulled it back, and leveled the aircraft," the White House occupant added.
Earlier reports indicated that a Flydubai flight had issued a distress signal due to a fight between pilots. Subsequent investigations confirmed that one of the pilots attacked his colleague with a knife. The situation was only contained after passengers intervened. Israeli authorities are treating the Boeing 737 incident as an attempted terrorist act.
Both pilots are currently hospitalized in Saudi Arabia.
