Foreign media: Chinese scientists have successfully shrunk semiconductor chips into fiber-like structures as thin as a human hair. The related findings were published in the journal "Nature."
The research was conducted by an academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and a research team from Fudan University. They developed a new type of electronic device called "Fiber Integrated Circuit" (FIC), which builds functional circuits on an elastic substrate and rolls them into fibers. The thickness of this fiber is comparable to that of a human hair, but it integrates 100,000 transistors per centimeter, meeting the industry standards of traditional large-scale integrated circuits, while maintaining complete flexibility.
It can calculate like a chip or display information like a transistor, paving the way for washable smart textiles, and has the potential to make clothing have functions similar to computers or televisions.
