Conflict in Suwayda Rekindles! Prisoner Exchange Suspended!

Arab tribal militias attacked the Druze positions in Suwayda province of Syria today, breaking the recently reached ceasefire agreement, causing the plan to exchange prisoners that night to be interrupted.

The Bedouins suddenly attacked the Druze community self-defense forces in the morning, attempting to seize the villages of Al-Qa' and Majar from them.

Previously, it was announced that the release of captured soldiers and hostages would begin at 18:00 local time in the Um Saytun area. Druze community leaders called on all parties to "cooperate and take maximum responsibility to ensure the success of this process."

In the morning, supporters of the radical Syrian Druze leader Sheikh Hikmat Hajari drove Arab armed forces out of the villages of Al-Qa' and Majar north of the administrative center of As-Suwayda. In response, the Bedouins requested reinforcements from neighboring Arab tribes and began counterattacks.
