Trump backs winning Polish president, announces deployment of 5,000 additional troops

U.S. to deploy 5,000 more soldiers to Poland

President Donald Trump announced that the United States will send an additional force of 5,000 military personnel to Poland.

Trump wrote on the social platform "Truth Social": "Given that incumbent Polish President Karol Nawrocki has successfully been elected — a candidate I proudly supported — and the friendly relationship we have established with him, I am pleased to announce that the United States will deploy 5,000 additional troops to Poland."

According to prior reporting by Defense News, the U.S. military command had canceled plans to deploy the 2nd Armored Brigade of the 1st Cavalry Division (comprising over 4,000 personnel and associated equipment) to Poland. Details regarding the decision have not been disclosed.

Currently, approximately 10,000 U.S. troops are stationed within Poland.
