German media: Iran has confirmed Ayatollah Khamenei's successor

One week after the U.S.-Israel attack that killed Iran's religious leader, Ayatollah Khamenei, Iran has already determined the new spiritual leader. However, the Iranian authorities have not yet announced the name of the new supreme leader.

The Iranian state news agency ISNA reported that member of the "Expert Council," Mohsen Hejdari, stated that the council has reached a majority consensus on the "best candidate for the supreme leader." In a video released by the Fars news agency, another member of the Expert Council, Mehdi Mirbagheri, said that the council had formed "clear opinions reflecting the views of the majority." According to the Iranian constitution, the Expert Council, composed of 88 senior clerics, is responsible for selecting the next Iranian supreme leader.

At present, the Iranian official has not revealed the specific name of the successor, but expert council member Hejdari implied that Mojtaba Khamenei, the son of Khamenei, is most likely to be the winner. In a report by the Iranian official news agency ISNA, Hejdari said: "[Great Satan] also mentioned the person selected by the expert council." Hejdari's statement obviously refers to Trump's previous remarks about Mojtaba Khamenei. Trump ruled out the possibility of Mojtaba Khamenei becoming the successor and stated that he must have a say in the selection of the new supreme leader.

For a week, rumors have been widespread that Mojtaba will become the new supreme leader. At the same time, Hassan Khomeini, the grandson of the first supreme leader of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Khomeini, has also been considered a potential candidate. However, neither Mojtaba Khamenei, who is 56 years old, nor Hassan Khomeini, who is 53 years old, meets the constitutional requirement of being a "Grand Ayatollah."

Israel vows to hunt down the new supreme leader

As Iran prepares to officially announce the new supreme leader, Israel has clearly stated that the new supreme leader will also be a target for elimination. Israel posted a Persian-language statement on the social media platform X saying: "The hand of the Israeli state will continue to pursue the new successor and those involved in nominating the new successor." The Israeli side stated that this warning targets all individuals planning to participate in the election meeting for Ayatollah Khamenei's successor.

A week ago, in an attack launched by the United States and Israel, Iran's supreme leader, Ayatollah Khamenei, was killed in his residence. A few days later, Israel warned that the successor of Khamenei would face the same fate.
