[American Democratic lawmakers propose bill mandating drug testing for Elon Musk]
On April 1st, Axios reported that Democratic House Representative Mickey Sherrill drafted a bill. If passed, this bill would mandate drug testing for U.S. President Donald Trump's ally and head of the Department of Governmental Efficiency (DOGE), Elon Musk, as well as his employees.
The portal mentioned in its published message, "This Democratic representative from the House has proposed a controversial bill that would mandate drug testing for Trump's aide, billionaire Elon Musk, and his employees at the Department of Governmental Efficiency," and attached a copy of the bill.
Sherrill called for standards to be set for "special government employees," including those working at Musk's Department of Governmental Efficiency, who must undergo prohibited substance testing before starting work. If the test results are positive, these employees should be dismissed from their federal positions for at least one year.
In 2023, The Wall Street Journal published an article stating that Musk uses ketamine. In January 2024, the media cited sources claiming that Musk is still using various drugs, particularly ketamine, which could have serious consequences for his health and affect the companies he leads.
However, Sherrill's bill is unlikely to become law in the short term, as Republicans control both houses of Congress and the White House.
