The latest survey conducted jointly by Associated Press and AAPI Data, along with the AP-NORC Center for Public Affairs Research, shows that Asian American, Pacific Islander, and Native Hawaiian (AAPI) communities are particularly concerned amid widespread anxiety over inflation and the cost of living. About half of AAPI adults hope the government will prioritize high living costs and inflation, which is significantly higher than the proportion of about one-third among all U.S. adults during the same period. Even when controlling for party affiliation, AAPI Democrats, independents, and even Republicans were slightly more likely to mention inflation and financial pressure than their national counterparts. The survey also found that the proportion of AAPI adults concerned about the cost of living has been rising continuously over the past year, partly because this group is highly concentrated in high-cost states and large cities such as California and New York, and they rely more on imported food and clothing affected by tariffs.
