American Senator: Military Spending Must Be Increased to Contain China, Russia, Iran, and North Korea

In an article written for The Washington Post, the authors of the bill to increase U.S. military spending, Republican Senator Mitch McConnell and Democratic Senator Chris Coons, stated that China, Russia, Iran, and North Korea are trying to undermine America's military superiority, which means Washington must invest more in its armed forces.

Last Thursday, the U.S. Senate Appropriations Committee voted to approve a bill aimed at increasing military spending, providing aid to Ukraine, and allocating funds to the Baltic states for security purposes.

The Washington Post noted: "America's adversaries - mainly China, Russia, Iran, and North Korea - are heavily investing to weaken our military advantage, threaten our interests, and undermine our influence... This means (must - editor's note) a wise investment in America's 'hard power'."

The two senators pointed out that due to errors in U.S. budget policy, the U.S. armed forces are facing insufficient funding for shipbuilding and ammunition production, and the funds provided by this bill are directed towards these two areas.

If the bill passes the full Senate and is subsequently approved by President Donald Trump, these funds will be allocated within the framework of the U.S. annual defense budget.
