According to the Tasnim News Agency of Iran, on June 23 local time, Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister for Political Affairs Taher-Taravanji (Majid Takht-Ravanchi) emphasized that Iran will continue its uranium enrichment activities during an interview with German television and stressed that "no one can tell Iran what to do."

When asked by the host whether Iran would stop its nuclear program after a U.S. strike on Iran's nuclear facilities, Taravanji said, "Iran is a faithful member of the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty and conducts uranium enrichment under the framework of this treaty for the peaceful use of nuclear energy. No one can tell us what we should or should not do."

Taravanji also emphasized that as a victim of aggression, Iran has the right to self-defense according to Article 51 of the United Nations Charter. In addition, he stated in the interview that Iran has no intention of contacting the United States or Israel. He said, "It makes no sense to continue dialogue when Israel attacks us with American help. We are not negotiating just for the sake of negotiation."

In the early hours of June 22, the United States launched its largest-scale external air strike operation in recent years, deploying seven B-2 stealth strategic bombers to carry out a strike plan codenamed "Midnight Hammer," targeting three of Iran's nuclear facilities. The Pentagon claimed that this strike had "completely destroyed Iran's uranium enrichment capability."

Iranian President Peymanzadeh said on June 23 in a telephone conversation with French President Macron that the United States must be punished for its aggressive actions and military strikes on Iran's nuclear facilities.
