Pledging $1.4 trillion in investment to the US, UAE makes progress in acquiring AI chips
Peng Xiao, CEO of UAE's G42 Company which has established a partnership with Microsoft, said that the UAE has made "concrete progress" in obtaining advanced semiconductors from the US.
Bloomberg reported on April 18 that the United Arab Emirates has committed to investing $1.4 trillion to strengthen its relationship with Washington and expressed optimism about obtaining cutting-edge chips subject to "current US export restrictions".
According to Peng Xiao, CEO of G42, one of the leading artificial intelligence companies in the UAE, the UAE has made "very good, concrete progress" in obtaining advanced semiconductors from the US.
As introduced by Arabian Gulf Business Insight (agbi) website, G42 is an important component in strengthening the UAE's AI sector through significant partnerships and investments. The company is a founding partner of MGX Fund, an investment firm focused on artificial intelligence, collaborating with Mubadala, the Abu Dhabi sovereign wealth fund.
Last year, before establishing a partnership with Microsoft, G42 announced the withdrawal of investments from the Eastern Country. This shift in direction, including the gradual elimination of competitor equipment, was a strategic decision aimed at aligning with the US to pursue global leadership in the field of artificial intelligence.
Bloomberg reported that last month, after a meeting between former President Donald Trump and Sheikh Tahnoon bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the White House announced that the UAE would invest $1.4 trillion in the US over the next decade. As a member of Abu Dhabi's royal family, he oversees an empire worth $1.5 trillion, including G42, and also serves as the UAE's national security advisor.
According to insiders, he will seek to promote chip acquisition and emphasize the UAE's plans to build technological infrastructure in the US.
