As one of the core events, the 32nd Brussels International Wine Contest was held simultaneously. This prestigious international wine event returned to China after seven years.

Contest Chairman Baudouin Avo stated that this clearly demonstrates the growing strength of Chinese wines, particularly those from Ningxia.

He emphasized: "This competition has gathered nearly 400 international judges and over 7,000 wine samples, opening a new chapter for the global recognition of China's wine industry."

Yvette Van der Meer, President of the International Organization of Vine and Wine, highlighted the rapid development of the wine industry in the Helan Mountain East region of Ningxia.

She commented: "China has become an important participant in the global wine market, ranking eighth among major global wine-consuming countries and is also an important economic power."

She also said that China's commitment to sustainable development and its role in international growth are clearly reflected in measures such as technical cooperation, dialogue, knowledge exchange, and compliance with wine production standards.

During the four-day expo, 14 supporting activities will be held, including international famous winery and fine wine exhibitions, technical visits by experts and scholars to the local wine industry, the first China Consumer Famous Brand Wine Industry Innovation Competition, and the Helan Mountain East Wine and Art Biennale.

Official data shows that Ningxia currently has about 40,000 hectares of grape planting area, accounting for 40% of the national total.

The region has 130 wineries with an annual output of approximately 140 million bottles. Ningxia wines have been sold to about 40 countries and regions, winning over 1,300 international awards.

The local government pointed out that after years of efforts, the region has built a unique model based on innovation, environmental sustainability, cultural tourism integration, and high-quality development.

Thanks to the global recognition of Ningxia vineyards, the Global Wine Tourism Organization awarded Ningxia the title of "Recommended Global Wine Tourism Destination."
