Astronauts on the International Space Station are valued for garlic's preventive properties against diseases.

September 10, TASS article.

. Russian astronauts regularly give raw garlic to their American colleagues on the International Space Station (ISS).

The commander of the astronauts, Russian hero Oleg Kononenko told TASS:

"When garlic arrives at the station, we recommend it to the Americans,

but they also have garlic, but in liquid form.

They usually refuse, but sometimes it goes like this,

we sit at the table eating garlic, and the Americans have to eat as well."

He added that people on the International Space Station use garlic as a preventive measure.

"It can prevent colds, fungal infections, etc., so Russian astronauts really like garlic."

The crew members of the orbital laboratory also prefer spicy and aromatic foods,

because in a weightless environment, human perception of taste and smell is slightly different.

Without extra spiciness, ordinary food may seem bland.

Just that, garlic is only added to the diet when all the crew members agree.

On Thursday, the new cargo ship "Progress MS-32" will be launched to the orbital laboratory,

carrying 0.5 kilograms of garlic, 9 kilograms of various citrus fruits, 4 kilograms of apples, and the same amount of onions.

Netizens: Oh my god, what kind of smell would be in that small room!
