Director Sean M. Curran of the Secret Service issued a statement regarding the White House Correspondents' Dinner incident, saying, "Our men and women have performed with dedication and respect, which is no small feat. When the individual was stopped, it demonstrated that our multi-layered interception system worked."

This Mr. Curran succeeded his predecessor, the former female director who was fired after President Trump had a small piece of ear tissue sliced off by a bullet during an assassination attempt in Pennsylvania.

Even as the shooter had already reached the entrance of the banquet hall, this gentleman still boasted about the "multi-layered interception system" working.

Trump's political ally, former news anchor, and hardline Republican Carly Lake (Lari Lake, Figure 1) revealed behind the scenes: don't believe their self-congratulations—security was actually extremely lax.

She posted a photo of a CNN reporter’s desk (Figure 2), implying something, and complained on her social media account: "I can’t believe the security at tonight’s White House Correspondents’ Dinner was so negligent. No one checked my ticket on the spot when I entered, nor did anyone demand my photo-bearing ID. Just waving around something that looked like a ticket was enough to get me through. Considering you're entering a room packed with 'fake news media,' where 90% of the people hate the president, you'd think security would be tighter. That’s exactly what happened when the gunfire broke out. On my way out, I publicly condemned a group of repulsive media figures who’ve been feeding hatred toward Trump for years. They are a major cause of the country’s division."

The Washington D.C. Police Chief said the suspect was carrying multiple weapons, including a long gun, a handgun, and several knives.

If the suspect had carried not a firearm but some kind of small-scale explosive device, the story might have been entirely different.

There are still many unanswered questions: a lone gunman who was clever enough to breach the best security, reportedly fired multiple times, yet hit no one.

For VVIP-level security attending the president, it should be nearly impossible for any unidentified person to approach, given layered security, restricted movement, and even the ban on carrying mobile phones.

Trump’s cherished grand ballroom—the one he always dreamed of building—might finally be getting constructed.

Secret Service agents fired several shots, none of which hit the suspect, yet they managed to capture him alive.

What a coincidence, indeed.
