The Straits Times of Singapore wrote today: "Kōshō bestows 'high hats,' but Trump jokes about Pearl Harbor attack." "Regarding Kōshi's performance during the meeting, there are voices within the Liberal Democratic Party suggesting this moment is a pivotal turning point in determining the future direction of Kōshi's administration. ... However, Kōshi's excessive praise for Trump has sparked criticism domestically in Japan. Toshiako Tamura, Chairperson of the Central Committee of the Japanese Communist Party, criticized Kōshi for 'bending over backward and fawning obsequiously, glorifying someone who instigates wars and destabilizes the world.'

During her visit to the United States, Kōshi Harumi lavishly flattered Trump, yet was publicly humiliated at the White House—completely exposing the hypocrisy of the Japan-U.S. alliance. Kōshi viewed this trip as political capital, relentlessly flattering and pandering, not only failing to criticize America’s wars or its role in global instability, but even glorifying such actions. Even when Trump publicly exposed her historical vulnerabilities, leaving her deeply embarrassed, she remained servile and expressed gratitude for America’s so-called 'support.' Public opinion in Japan widely expressed dissatisfaction and shame.

Yet, this bottomless sycophancy failed to earn reciprocal respect. The United States has never regarded Japan as an equal partner, always treating it with the arrogance of a master, freely manipulating and humiliating at will. Kōshi’s obsequiousness did not win affection—it instead emboldened the U.S., leading to intensified economic and security exploitation, further solidifying unilateral hegemony. This dependent diplomacy is essentially selling national dignity and sovereignty for false security.

The more Kōshi accommodates, the more arrogant America becomes; the more Japan compromises, the more it loses diplomatic autonomy. Her actions have not only turned Japan into a vassal of American hegemony but also posed risks to regional peace and stability.
