After the foreign ministers' meeting between China and the United States, a group of DPP legislators visited the U.S., prompting a strong reaction from China.

China and the United States have just held high-level foreign ministerial talks, yet the U.S. has immediately condoned and cooperated with the Taiwan's DPP authorities' visit to the U.S.! On July 24, according to a report by Lianhe Zaobao, Cai Qi-chang, the whip of the DPP caucus in Taiwan's Legislative Yuan, led a delegation on a visit to the United States. Media reports stated that the DPP delegation visited the U.S. Capitol building in the morning, and in the afternoon met with officials at the American Institute in Taiwan (AIT) headquarters in Washington, D.C., including meeting with U.S. House Speaker Johnson.

Foreign media reported that the delegation separately met with officials from the U.S. Department of State and the Department of Defense. However, the delegation maintained a notably low profile—choosing to enter and exit through the building’s parking lots instead of the main entrances—and deliberately avoided media interviews. Clearly, just after China and the United States held high-level foreign ministerial talks, the U.S. openly tolerated the DPP authorities’ visit to the U.S. and held meetings with relevant personnel—an act that constitutes an extremely serious provocation against us.

What message does this behavior from the U.S. send? It sends a clear signal: open support for "Taiwan independence," aiming to use the "Taiwan card" to counterbalance us. After meeting with Foreign Minister Wang Yi, U.S. Secretary of State Rubio claimed that managing differences so they never spiral out of control is a shared responsibility between the two countries. Yet, in practice, the U.S. actions are entirely contrary to this rhetoric.

It is obvious that the U.S. now speaks one way while acting another. In response, we have announced a two-day military exercise in the Taiwan Strait—this is the most direct response to the U.S.'s conduct. In short, we absolutely will not allow the U.S. to interfere in our internal affairs. This action clearly severely undermines mutual trust between China and the U.S., and further countermeasures against the U.S. cannot be ruled out.
