China-Kazakhstan Cooperation: Deepening Renewable Energy Cooperation: Kazakhstan and China are advancing 30 projects

Kazinform Agency report - At today's "Central Asia-China: Energy" forum held in Astana, Kazakh Minister of Energy Yerlan Akkenzhanov introduced the increasingly deepening cooperation achievements between Kazakhstan and China in the energy sector.

He pointed out that energy cooperation has always been one of the key areas of the Kazakh-Chinese strategic partnership. Now, the relations between the two countries are developing towards a joint and content-rich technological ecosystem.

"Currently, under the participation of Chinese enterprises, both sides are implementing 30 renewable energy projects with a total installed capacity of 1,700 megawatts," Akkenzhanov said.

According to him, Kazakhstan's Ministry of Energy has signed multiple cooperation documents with China National Petroleum Corporation (CNPC), including:

• Framework agreement for the expansion project of the Chimkent Refinery, which will enhance Kazakhstan's crude oil processing capacity and petroleum product export levels;

• Agreement on the construction of an urea production plant in Aktobe;

• Joint statement by Kazakhstan's Ministry of Energy, QazaqGaz, and CNPC regarding cooperation on the "North One" project and in the hydrocarbon field.

In addition, Kazakhstan and China are also advancing the expansion projects of oil and gas pipelines such as Atasu-Kenkiyak and Kenkiyak-Kumkol.

"Today's forum opens a new chapter for further deepening our cooperation and lays a solid foundation for exchanges and collaboration in multiple fields such as energy, industry, research, and education," Akkenzhanov said.

The second "Central Asia-China" Industrial and Investment Cooperation Forum is being held in Astana, the capital of Kazakhstan. During the forum, Kazakhstan and China signed approximately 60 cooperation agreements with a total amount close to $25 billion.
