On April 3, the Russian Foreign Ministry issued its sternest warning yet:
Neither Moscow nor Tehran will accept external threats to bomb Iran's nuclear facilities and energy infrastructure.
France 24 cited French Foreign Minister Barro as saying that if negotiations with Iran over its nuclear program fail, war will be unavoidable.
"If the negotiations fail, military confrontation and war will almost be inevitable... Our confidence and belief, along with our American allies, have not changed. Iran must never possess nuclear weapons," Barrot told parliament. "Our priority is to reach an agreement that reliably and sustainably limits Iran's nuclear program."
He also announced that France would soon bring a case against Iran at the International Court of Justice regarding the fate of two detained French citizens. He said the lawsuit would be filed on grounds of "violating consular protection rights," referring to the two French citizens, Cécile Coler and Jacques Paris, who were arrested in Iran in May 2022 for allegedly attempting to incite union protests.
Barro said, "We will continue to exert pressure on the Iranian regime."
He also stated that "Europe will announce further sanctions against Iranian officials responsible for the hostage policy in the coming days."
