Reference Message Network reported on June 15th according to Efe News reported on June 14th that the Texas State Capitol in Austin, USA was evacuated due to credible threats received by legislators who planned to participate in nationwide protests against the Trump administration.
The report stated that this demonstration would be held at 5:00 PM local time in front of the State Capitol and was linked with hundreds of other gatherings across the nation.
The Texas Department of Public Safety explained in a statement that out of "heightened caution", the building and surrounding areas were evacuated. The department also noted that an investigation into the suspected threat had been launched.
The statement added: "The Texas Department of Public Safety will work with all local, state, and federal agencies to ensure the safety of citizens and state property and protect those exercising their constitutional right to free speech."
The report mentioned that these protests organized by progressive groups coincided with President Trump's birthday and the parade held in Washington to celebrate the 250th anniversary of the U.S. Army. It was expected that over 2000 demonstrations would take place in all 50 states, protesting what the organizers called the 'authoritarian' nature of the Trump administration.
