U.S. Treasury Secretary: Trump's Postponed Visit to China Has Nothing to Do with the Guarantee on the Strait of Hormuz

U.S. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent said on Monday that President Donald Trump's possible postponement of his visit to China has nothing to do with China's response to his request for the opening of the Strait of Hormuz.

Bessent told reporters after the second round of U.S.-China trade talks held in Paris: "If the president postpones the visit, it has nothing to do with China's guarantee on the issue of the Strait of Hormuz. Obviously, it is in China's interest, but the postponement of the visit is not because China failed to meet any of the president's requests."

White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt previously said that President Donald Trump might postpone his official visit to China in late March due to the ongoing escalation of the situation in Iran.
