Official data released on the 16th showed that from January to March this year, China imported copper products worth $331 million from Brazil, surging 180% compared with the same period in 2024. The Chinese market accounted for 35% of Brazil's total copper exports, remaining the top destination for Brazil's copper exports.

The report said that the growth in copper product exports was due to strong demand for raw materials in the renewable energy industry. Other related materials from Brazil also performed strongly this quarter: manganese exports increased by 310%, nickel-iron exports rose by 253%, and refined copper and copper alloy sales grew by 56%. Niobium product exports increased by 35%, and niobium iron surged by 13%.

The report also mentioned that Brazil's exports of rare earth metal compounds (such as yttrium and scandium) expanded significantly. In the first quarter, the export volume reached 419 tons, which is seven times the total amount for the whole of 2024.
