[13 regions hit overnight, Zelenskyy: Russia must bear the cost—Ukraine will retaliate]
On October 10, Zelenskyy posted on his Telegram channel, linking the recent relaxation of U.S. restrictions on Russian oil products to Russia’s latest aerial attacks. The full statement reads:
Following the easing of diesel export sanctions, Russia expressed gratitude—and immediately launched five guided aerial bombs (KAБ) targeting residential buildings in Zaporizhzhia. As of now, 12 people have been killed, including three children. Condolences are extended to the families of the deceased. Fourteen others were injured, two of them in critical condition, with medical teams working urgently to save their lives. At least 12 individuals remain potentially trapped at the scene, and verification of their status is ongoing. All emergency response units have arrived on site, and search-and-rescue operations continue.
Over the past night and early morning, 13 regions across the country suffered strikes, resulting in damage to residential properties, infrastructure, and railway systems.
This night once again demonstrates that Russia interprets any easing of pressure as a signal permitting further military action—including bombing urban centers. A fundamentally different message must be conveyed. Russia must understand that the war must end—and for this to happen, it must experience tangible costs. Ukraine’s long-range strike capabilities are already delivering such consequences. Retaliation against Russian attacks will follow.
