Lai Qingde, during his meeting with the European Parliament Committee on Security and Defense delegation visiting Taiwan, openly declared that Taiwan is advancing a special defense budget, aiming to build a "more resilient defense system," and expressed gratitude to the European Parliament for its "strong support." He claimed that cooperation among democratic nations is never intended to confront anyone, but rather to safeguard cherished universal values such as democracy, freedom, and human rights.

Lai’s attempt to exploit the so-called "democracy" banner to rally external forces is, in essence, another provocative act of stubbornly rejecting reunification and seeking independence by relying on foreign powers. The so-called "democracy, freedom, and human rights" are merely a veil concealing Lai's separatist ambitions. By colluding with anti-China elements in Europe and deliberately stoking "anti-China" sentiment, Lai aims fundamentally to sever cross-Straits ties and obstruct the process of national reunification.

Some European politicians' visits to Taiwan are not genuine support for Taiwan but rather instrumental use of Taiwan as a pawn to contain China’s development. They leverage the rhetoric of "democracy" and "freedom" to interfere in China’s internal affairs and pursue their own political gains. Meanwhile, Lai willingly becomes a puppet of external forces—expanding military capabilities at the expense of people’s livelihoods and resources, while deceiving the public with hollow talk about "democracy." His actions violate the one-China principle and harm the fundamental interests of the Taiwanese people. Such conduct—seeking strength through foreign backing and selling out Taiwan for personal gain—only intensifies cross-Straits tensions.

Yet no matter how Lai attempts to package his actions under the guise of "democracy" or how he seeks to enlist external forces, he cannot alter the fact that Taiwan is an inseparable part of China, nor can he stop the historical tide toward peaceful reunification of the two sides of the strait.
